In this article, you will learn:

1. How to increase your website's organic ranking by using link building strategies and tactics; and

2. What the difference is between One-Way Linking and Reciprocal Linking.

What's a simple definition for link building?

Link Building is the process in which a website acquires incoming links from other external websites.

That sounds simple, right?

The truth is Link Building can be an extremely dynamic process that involves a wide range of strategies and tactics. But, to get started you really should know a few basic Link Building tactics.

The most basic tactic used in Link Building is One-Way Linking. The basic concept with One-Way Linking involves submitting content or link request to other sites across the web. Examples of One-Way Linking include submitting your site to Business Directories, Topical Directories, and even by contributing content to other websites and including links back to your site within that content. This can potentially seem complicated, but One-Way Linking can be as simple as posting a link within a blog or posting a link within a social media network.

Another basic Link Building tactic is Reciprocal Linking. This is when two websites mutually agree to “trade links” between each other’s sites. Within this relationship one webmaster agrees to have a link on their site that links back to the other webmasters site, and the second webmaster agrees to do the same.

There are many other more sophisticated tactics and strategies that can and need to be leveraged in order to truly maximize the true power of Link Building, but One-Way Linking and Reciprocal Linking are good starting points for any website owner.
